DCMI - Setting up a Network Printer

Network printer support allows you to use the iSeries/AS400 printers from your PC. Network printer support is integrated into Windows 95. To set up a network printer, do the following:

  1. You must be connected to an iSeries system.
  2. Click the Start button, point to Settings, and then click Printers.
  3. Double-click Add Printer.
  4. Follow the instructions on your screen. The icon for the new printer appears in the Printers folder.

You will need to provide a path to the network printer. You can either enter this path or select the browse button to help you build a path. The format of the path must be one of the following:

\\SystemName\PrinterName
\\SystemName\PrinterName;ProfileName
\\SystemName\/OutqueueLibraryName/OutqueueName
\\SystemName\/OutqueueLibraryName/OutqueueName;ProfileName

where:

· SystemName is the name of the iSeries system where the printer is attached.
· PrinterName is the name of the iSeries printer.
· ProfileName is the name of the Client Access printer profile.
· OutqueueLibraryName is the name of the iSeries library where your output resides.
· OutqueueLibraryName is the name of the iSeries output queue where you want your printer data sent.
