Cleanup Day
Our annual Cleanup Day was a washout! It was a chilly, wet Saturday morning on June 4th when about 35 or so hardy folks gathered in Ralph and Janet Hanna's garage for the
traditional "jumpstart" of donuts, juice and coffee and conversation. But instead of handing around trashbags and pick-up sticks we caught up on news and got re-acquainted with folks we hadn't seen in
awhile. At 11:00am the Social Committee served a tasty BBQ lunch in the Hanna's home. Originally planned to be under our community tents, it was just too rainy and cold so we were invited inside to
share food and fellowship in warmth and comfort. We were honored to have Rhonda Livingston, our neighbor from Algonquin Acres visit with us. Rhonda is running for Centennial city council and gave us
information on what is going on in our city, what is being planned for the future, and answered questions from our group. It may have been a sloppy day for working outdoors but it was a great time for
those of us who got together. Many thanks to Ralph and Janet Hanna for your generous hospitality, to Andy Tysler for (again!) providing beer for lunch, and to Jean Roup and the Social Committee for preparing lunch.
Invitation to an Ice Cream Social
Residents of Sanctuary on the Park have been invited to an Ice Cream Social on Tuesday, August 2, 2005 from 6-9pm at 6555 S. Jordan Road to celebrate National Night Out. Neighbors from Algonquin Acres, Valley
Country Club Estates, Windmill Creek Reserve, Villas at the Valley and 20th Hole Townhomes have also been invited to attend.
National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime efforts, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships,
and send a message to criminals, letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. Residents across the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police.
This year we will be celebrating Centennial's 5th birthday too! Event participants include Centennial Medical Plaza providing free blood pressure checks, South Metro Fire Rescue and Arapahoe County Sheriff stopping by with their
equipment, Katie the Aurora Police Dare dog, Representative David Balmer and other community leaders. Swingle Tree Lawn Care will provide mosquito control. Make-your-own Ice cream sundaes and pizza are being provided - please bring
two dozen cookies to share and come join your neighbors for a good time for a good cause.

Bird Habitat Notes
It has been quite busy in all of our bird habitats this spring. Although we had our share of blackbirds, we also were successful in finally getting other activity. Sandie Hill reports the successful mating of Kestrel Hawks in the habitat just north of her house. They raised 3 fledglings. Sandie was watching them train the young ones when I checked in with her. We also had Flickers in two of the other large habitats and continue to attract Tree Swallows and Wrens.
Considering the territorial aspect of birds, we may be relocating several of the habitats and/or exchanging the positions in the near future to further encourage the species we want to attract the most.
In addition we will be strengthening the upright stanchions to assure better stability.
A special thanks to Ron Robinson, Alan Kortz, Sam Searcy and Mal Jones for their continued help

HOA Board Meeting
The next meeting of the Sanctuary HOA Board will be October 12, 2005 at 7:00pm at a location yet to be determined. Check Bulletin Boards for location. It is the intention of the Board to discontinue meeting in individual homes and find a location more suitable for large groups. If you have any suggestions, please call Joe Dirks, 303-699-9439.

Good Neighbor Story
This Editor was sitting at her computer one morning a few weeks ago and noticed a young boy wearing a backpack walking down Blackhawk Ct. towards the corner of Jordan and Caley. A big yellow school bus stopped at the stop sign, then proceeded to slowly pull away down Jordan. The boy started running but was unable to reach the bus in time and off it went. One of your good neighbors saw all this happen and went down the street to talk to the boy - brought him back to her house and drove him off (presumably to his intended destination) in her car. This Editor was very touched to witness this entire incident, and is thankful to live next door to such a caring and thoughtful neighbor. The neighbor's name - Rosanne Robinson!
