One More Thing to Worry About
You'd think some people just don't have enough to worry about without thinking up stuff like why the traffic light for a left turn from Jordan to Arapahoe always just turns to yellow when you get there.
Like, we should be concerned about more important stuff such as how deep can Lake Sanctuary get before Anne and Bill Nelson can bring their sailboat up here or maybe how many is too many rabbits for one neighborhood? People are searching for answers to Life's Questions.
That's why I hate to bring up that yellow traffic light. But since as a retiree I have nothing deeper to worry about I started keeping score. After all, 90 seconds can be an eternity in traffic-light years. We're busy people.
I'm no math whiz, but you got to wonder about this. What are the statistical probabilities of the light seemingly always yellow or cars turning from the south just as you arrive?
I kept score for two months this winter, and not counting hanging chads the count is:
Just turning yellow or red as I arrive to turn left: 31 times out of 50 (bad thing). Green within seconds of my arrival: 5 (good thing). Somewhere between cycles: 9. That's the oddity of this. You'd think a guy randomly leaving Sanctuary would hit mostly the in-between cycle since it's the longest? Nope. One chance in five.
This thing is rigged. There's a hidden camera somewhere that watches us as we drive south and then, CLICK, it changes the light to red or yellow. Gotta hand it to CDOT. Sneaky, clever.
