Your Neighbor

Allan and Winnie Kortz Live at 6242 S. Blackhawk Court. They are both from Ohio, having met at Case Western Reserve Univ; Winnie was a Lab Instructor in one of Allan's classes. They celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary on July 1st.

Allan and Winnie moved to Colorado in 1952 for Allen's internship at Colorado General Hospital, and stayed. Allan is (mostly) retired from medicine, his specialty was surgery. He is currently President of Arapahoe Medical Foundation, an information service for 800 physicians. He is active in the Arapahoe Medical Society and has twice held the office of President. He is currently doing health care consulting for small and medium physician groups and others.

Before moving to the Sanctuary, Allan and Winnie lived in SE Denver close to TJ High School for 37 years. They raised four children, have two sons who are currently surgeons at Porter Hospital, a daughter who lives in Houston, and a dozen grandchildren. One of the special things Winnie does is to take a trip with each grandchild, individually, and has gone to Canada, Paris, Disney World (on the Big Red Boat) and Jamaica to name just a few. And she still has 4 grandchildren coming along waiting for their turn!

Allan likes hiking in his spare time and Winnie loves gardening, especially growing iris (she has 50 varieties!) and doing crafts. They both enjoy traveling and have had some amazing trips, including dog sledding in Yukon Territory (with only a guide!) and a safari to Kenya. In 1983 they rode the Orient Express from Paris to Istanbul on the 100th anniversary of the train, taking the QE2 over and flying the Concorde back! What a dream trip. Allan and Winnie have a home in Keystone where they spend part of the year. Allan is Pres. of the HOA there. The Kortz's are interesting and involved people and we are glad they live here now. Nice to know you!

Board Meeting - October 21
The next meeting of the Board of Directors of the Sanctuary Homeowner's Association will be on October 21st at 7:00 p.m. at the home of Allan and Winnie Kortz, 6242 S. Blackhawk Ct. All homeowners are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Neighbors Riding the Rockies

Kathy and Eric Patterson rode between 60-80 miles a day on their "bicycle built for two" in the annual Ride The Rockies tour - about 500 miles total. An accomplishment grande! We're proud of you! See some pictures on our Sanctuary website.
BUNCO BABES
We are having lots of fun each month playing Bunco, but we are always looking for cheerful new faces to join us. We meet at 7:00pm the second Thursday of each month, play for a couple of hours and enjoy a dessert provided by our hostess and good fellowship and much laughter. Call one of the "hostesses" if you'd like to play - it's easy and a great way to meet folks.

Social Committee

Snow is coming…also our "Cup of Cheer"!

Our Social Committee has selected the date of December 8th (Sunday) for our annual holiday party "Cup of Cheer." (We are mindful of the fact the Broncos do not have a home game that day). If you would like to be a host home this year, please contact Marilyn Fitzgerald 303-690-5040 or Joan Searcy 303-617-6272.

Do you have an idea for a fun get-together, party or project? We are always looking for ways to get our community involved and enjoying the company of our neighbors and neighborhood. Let us hear from you, all suggestions are happily received!

Thank You

We have a beautiful new Blue Spruce tree in our sanctuary common area, donated by one of our homeowners. A tree or flowering shrub planted in the common areas benefits us all, and makes the sanctuary more attractive to the birds we all love to watch. Remember, all plantings must have Design Review approval. Also, the HOA will arrange to have dead trees on your property removed, however, replanting is up to the homeowner.

Close Your Door
Recently one of our neighbors right here in Sanctuary had a theft occur. The garage door was left open and someone entered the house through the unlocked connecting door and stole her purse. For your own safety and security, we remind you to keep those garage doors DOWN when you aren't in your garage. Also, notify your neighbor if you see their door open last thing at night!
