Your Neighbor

This is the second in a series about the folks who live in our neighborhood. The purpose of this feature is to help us all to get to know our neighbors a little better.

Steve and Anne Jeffries live at 6280 S. Carson Street in a gorgeous house backing up to the path leading into the state park. Steve is a "rare" Denver native and Anne is originally from Lexington, KY. They met in 1969 living in the same apartment building -Steve says he came out in his police uniform one day and Anne, being naturally outgoing and curious, started talking to him, and that was that. They have been married since 1971. Steve retired from the Denver Police Department after 27 years and Anne served as Librarian for 25 years at Northglenn High School. She is still active doing substitute work. The Jeffries have two grown daughters, one a teacher and one a Flight Attendant for Frontier airlines. And they have a lovely old dog named Buck.

Since Steve retired from active police work, he has been busy in doing special security projects and working for FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency). He was on one of the first planes out of DIA on September 13th to New York to work at Ground Zero, setting up security and communications. Most recently, he worked in Salt Lake City at the Olympics. He will be going to the White House with the rest of Team USA to meet President Bush.

Steve and Anne lived in East Denver from 1972 until they moved to the Sanctuary in 2000. Steve used to hunt Mallards years ago on the property that was roughly where their house stands now! Steve is Vice President of the homeowners Association and will be President next year. The Jeffries are an active asset to our community and we are grateful for their commitment and service. Nice to know you.
