| Whew!…… what a trip! Today, as predicted, we started out from Salida with 30MPH winds from the south….in our face. Not a bad climb up Poncha Pass, however, the wind made it tough. We were concerned about the remainder of the 70 miles into Alamosa. The winds finally died down for an hour, then they whipped up again for the final 40 miles. Fortunately, we were tag teaming with some other bikes to make it easier. Once we crossed the finish line, we were a couple of tired doggies…. 83 miles into the wind was tough. Nothing that a couple of beers couldn't cure, though. We met some great people on the trip…… |
