He is hilarious!! I am a little concerned about his question that it will be anchored REALLY GOOD....you don't think anyone would try to steal it do you? Now that would be rich, somebody stealing the SHERIFF!!! Oh my gosh. But isn't that Krispy Kreme open 24 hours? Well, we will just have to trust the guardian angels of nuts to keep this one safe. I think a lot of people would like to read it. I will keep an eye on (potato eye that is) on the future site of Sam the Sheriff for any mischievous activity in the area and document it. This sounds like a new TV show. If you can put people on an island and make them eat strange things, an UnderCover Peanut Detective Show would not be so far fetched! You picked a highly traveled intersection so that nut will be the talk of the town. It will be anchored REALLY GOOD, Right? But Elvis hasn't left the building yet!! While taking pictures I did come across one nut that was out-of-site, The Wiregrass Museum of Art's nut fell over, That was the story anyway. I will get a picture of it when he is repaired....... Don't worry I will take care of your new nut, just as if it where my own! P.S. Sam the Sheriff is the BEST!. I will keep you informed of any NUT Grass growing at the site & NUTTY Occurrences with photos. They are awesome and you did a marvelous job of capturing all of the personalities involved. And, don't you agree, there is no question that "Sheriff Sam" is the pick of the peanuts!? Actually, I did not know that Sam will have to be washed and waxed regularly, you would think since he isn't running through traffic he wouldn't get so dirty. Well, whatever you can do to keep him looking spiffy would be very much appreciated. Maybe we could even get you a "donut of the week" card for regular maintenance. Have to look into that.... I know you must think this is pretty funny, and silly, but you know, your FATHER is the one who started it all. He sent us this article about the Dothan peanuts back in November and wrote an accompanying note asking the rhetorical question "Who would waste their money on this?" and that just set the peanut rolling, so to speak. I mean, what else do you get the man who has everything? His own, immortal peanut. What could be more appropriate? I have been contacting Wes Hardin (artist) and also Lana Smitherman (head of Dothan Downtown Group) to get a date of actual installation but haven't heard anything definite from either one of them. So we would really appreciate your keeping your ears (and eyes) open for activity in the area of Krispy Kreme and if they install when it is convenient for you, getting some pictures of the event. After all, I need them to go in the Sheriff Sam Baby Book. I will, of course, be bringing it with me so everyone can ooh and aah over his very cute progress. I am even considering contacting the writer from the Dothan Eagle who wrote the article last week about all the peanuts, to see if she would like to do a feature article on Sam, the real Sam, who grew up as a local boy and went West and did good. What do you think? Well, thanks again for all the wonderful pictures. Keep clicking away and we will see you in just a few weeks!! Love you, j *****************************************************************************
