DCMI - TCP/IP Internet Configuration

Sign-on as QSECOFR or Equivalent
Use command CFGTCP
Use option 1 (TCP/IP Interfaces) and 1 again to add an interface
- IP address of iSeries
- 10.1.1.2 or what ISP gave you
- Line Description name of NIC
- Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 or from ISP
If Internet Connection active, use option 2 from CFGTCP then 1 to add
a default route
- Route destination of *DFTROUTE
- Subnet mask of *NONE (only thing allowed)
- Next hop, enter IP address of router
- If this step is omitted, local machines will be able to Ping the iSeries,
but the Internet will not be able to see your iSeries.
Option 12 - Local domain & Host name
- Enter Domain Name (mycompany.com)
- Enter Host Name (www)
Select option 13 - Remote Name Server
- Make sure Server Address is blank - Change Searched first to *LOCAL
- What is DNS?
Option 20 - Config TCP/IP Applications. Very important for security.
By default, FTP and Telnet are turned on. Following will turn them off.
- Select Option 10 - Change FTP Attributes and change "Autostart
Servers" to *NO
- Select Option 11 - Config Telnet then option 1 to change Telnet attributes
and change "Autostart Server" to *NO
Press F3 until you return to command line.
TCP/IP is now configured. Use command STRTCP to start it.
You should now be able to Ping (command Ping) your configured PC's
and they should be able to Ping the iSeries.
